Off the beaten path, beautiful locally made jewelry, art, & souvenirs priced reasonably if not better than the straw market tourist area tchotchkes, & definitely better quality. Lou was very hospitible & friendly, she offered us water as soon as we walked in because we walked 2&1/4 miles to get there! It was so worth it! Then she told us how to catch the bus back to save our feet & time, & made change for us so we could pay the driver. $1.75/person. So we got some Bahamian coins to take home too.
All kinds of Bahamian local hand crafted creations just off the beaten path. You will not be disappointed if you are looking for something that is authentic and resonably priced knickknacks by local island artists in exotic materials! Soaps, oceanic jewelry, sea shell miniatures, canvas paintings, wood carvings...you name it. Catch a bus or walk the 2.2 mi. Lou (f) was very friendly and helpful. She helped us pick out something for everyone back home. She offered us cold water when we arrived and sent us with more after our visit. We spent about an hour shopping and visiting with her. It was a wonderful experience!
